Would you like to learn more about the genealogical uses of Y-DNA or finding biological family through DNA testing? In the first of two presentations, Richard Hill will explain how adoptees and others find biological parents and siblings through DNA testing. Learn about the case that started it all and see today’s recommended strategies. View examples of surprise discoveries and see the tools used to identify relationships. In his second presentation, learn how Y-DNA testing of suitable males can trace and confirm paternal lines in your family tree, how to choose the right test, and how to work with your genetic matches. Examples cover STRs, SNPs, genetic distance, match thresholds, TIP reports, the Y-DNA tree, haplogroups, group projects, account settings, and more.

Richard Hill did not plan to be a pioneer. He was just an adoptee trying to identify unknown birth parents. Yet his innovative application of DNA testing put him on the front page of The Wall Street Journal. Later, he shared the story of his decades-long search in his award-winning book, Finding Family: My Search for Roots and the Secrets in My DNA. Now, thousands of adoptees are following Richard’s path, using genetic genealogy DNA tests to bypass sealed birth records and unite with their first families. Countless more adults are discovering new genetic relatives and extending and confirming their family trees. For more information on Richard and genetic genealogy, see his website DNAFavorites.
