Visit our passport acceptance facility on the first floor to start your passport application process. No appointments, all walk-ins.
Prepare for the passport application process by visiting Travel.State.Gov to learn about the required documents and forms of payment needed for a successful passport application. This includes:
- A completed, unsigned passport application (also known as Form DS-11)
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship (most common proof is original or certified copy of birth certificate)
- Proof of Identity (most common proof is a driver's license or state ID)
- A check or money order to pay for passport fees
- Cash, check, or money order — separate from passport fees — to pay for the $35.00 execution fee
- A passport photo
Do you want a passport but are unavailable on April 8? Good news — passport services are available at Main Library every day of the week! Give us a call and we can schedule an appointment for a date and time that works for you.

UPDATE:
This event is about guiding passport applicants through the first step in the passport application process — submitting required paperwork correctly and accurately, verifying nationality, and confirming identity. All paperwork and payments collected on April 8 will be sent to the Department of State to complete the final steps of the passport application process, which takes an additional 7-13 weeks. Those attending Passport Day at Main Library on April 8 will not receive their actual passport that day.

Main Library, located in the heart of downtown Akron, combines compelling public space with meaningful and relevant public library services for all members of our community. Since opening in 2004, the downtown library welcomes more than one million visitors each year.
Subject divisions include: Business, Government & Science, Culture & AV, Magazines & Newspapers, Special Collections (local history & genealogy), TechZone@Main, Teen, and a 12,000 square feet Children's Library.
Special services available at Main Library include: a Patent & Trademark Resource Center; U.S. Passport and Notary services; a Microbusiness Center; a Maker Space; a resource lab for early childhood educators; and regularly scheduled computer training classes. Also available at Main Library are more than 125 public access computers, color photocopiers/printers, laminating, scanning, faxing, and free Wi-Fi.
Specialized spaces include a 425-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms, and a used bookstore. An interior glass block walkway leads to a 600-space parking garage owned by the City of Akron. An outdoor amphitheater and landscaped park complete the complex.
