Join Dr. Megan Shaeffer for a tour through some of the archaeological and historical sites that can be found in Summit Metro Parks!
We will look at pre-contact Native American sites in the Springfield Bog and Sand Run Metro Parks, historic recreation in Gorge Metro Park, and an integrated community on the fringes of Akron and Cuyahoga Falls in the new Valley View Area of Cascade Valley Metro Park.
Dr. Shaeffer is the Cultural Resources Coordinator for Summit Metro Parks. She has done archaeological work throughout Ohio and taught archaeology, anthropology, and sociology at the University of Akron and Kent State University. As an archaeologist and sociologist, she explores how landscapes have been shaped by humans in the past and present day.
This program is held on Zoom. Registration is required to receive a login.
