The Summit Academy Akron-Secondary High School Steel Drum Army is made up of students from 9th grade to 12th grade with a wide variety of learning disabilities, autism, and other challenges.
This school specializes in helping all of our students learn and grow into wonderful young adults in a warm and caring environment.
Steven Komlody, Steel Band Director, has been with Summit Academy for three years teaching steel drums and multi-percussion as a way for students to express their emotions in a positive way, and with a wide variety of music that they can connect to, ranging from island socas to pop songs.
The steel drum band has performed all over Akron, sharing their talents with the community and providing entertainment that will leave you clapping and smiling!
