Learn how Summit Metro Parks is transforming Akron's Valley View Golf Course into a natural area for fish, wildlife, and ultimately people. Register to receive a Zoom link.

A few years ago, Summit Metroparks acquired the Valley View Golf Course in Akron, Ohio. Now known as our Valley View Conservation Area, the acquisition connects Gorge, Sand Run, and Cascade Valley into a SuperPark.

Staff at Metroparks are busy working to restore the area to a natural area for fish, wildlife and ultimately people. Come learn what is happening behind the scenes at Valley View.

To learn more about the history of Summit County's Metroparks, you can check out Steps in Time: Ninety Years of Metro Parks, Serving Summit County by Sarah Vradenburg.

This program will be presented on Zoom.

You will receive an e-mail with the participation weblink 1-2 days before the program. Please contact the Library if you are unable to attend.

If you do not have an e-mail address, please contact Highland Square Branch Library at 330-376-2927 to learn how to participate by phone.

About the branch

Highland Square is one of Akron’s most iconic communities, hosting numerous street fairs and festivals, eclectic shopping and dining, and a vibrant night life. The extremely diverse neighborhood is home to seniors, young families, artists, educators, and students of all demographics. The Highland Square Branch Library is a reflection of this diverse neighborhood, with a standout LGBTQ collection and a rich programming schedule.

Reference assistance, computers and computer classes, WiFi, copiers, scanning, and faxing round out the services provided within the library. The full scope of community participation, however, is seen in local senior care facilities, local schools and preschools, and neighborhood festivals where Highland Square Branch Library staff plays an active role in creating experiences for participants of all ages. Visit us soon on the Square.
