Join CVNP rangers and costumed characters to explore the dangerous realities, heartbreak, and hope of the Underground Railroad. We’ll explore the question, “What would you be willing to fight for?”
Wherever there has been oppression, there has been resistance to it, in the form of individual acts of rebellion as well as organized efforts by groups of people united in a single cause. Such is the story of the Underground Railroad (UGRR) that traveled through present day Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
A mixture of historical fact and myth, the Underground Railroad crossed the lines of race, gender, and political stance. It encompassed free and enslaved, black, white, and Native American. Cloaked in secrecy, this movement would forever alter the course of this nation.
