This program is designed for anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the complex history of Native Americans in the Cuyahoga Valley and Northeast Ohio. Authors Linda Whitman and Peg Bobel will share insights from their recently released book, "Native Americans of the Cuyahoga Valley." In addition to exploring the history of Native Americans in the region, they will address contemporary challenges faced by Native American communities today.
Linda Whitman is, MS, is a visiting research scholar and an emerita instructor of archaeology and a former director in the department of anthropology at the University of Akron.
Peg Bobel is a freelance writer and former cultural resource specialist for Summit Metro Parks.

Main Library, located in the heart of downtown Akron, combines compelling public space with meaningful and relevant public library services for all members of our community. Since opening in 2004, the downtown library welcomes more than one million visitors each year.

Also available at Main Library are more than 125 public access computers, color photocopiers/printers, laminating, scanning, faxing, and free Wi-Fi.
Specialized spaces include a 425-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms, and a used bookstore. An interior glass block walkway leads to a 600-space parking garage owned by the City of Akron. An outdoor amphitheater and landscaped park complete the complex.
